About the position

The Engineering Manager (EM) brings innovation and engineering power together with the planning and organization of highly-skilled engineering team. Besides, the EM oversees the operational performance of multidisciplinary and complex project based engineering. The EM is member of the Management Team.

The responsibility of the EM is to consolidate highly skilled engineering team, surrounded by a flexible workforce shell in all technology fields. Together with the team, the EM organizes the operations of engineering in a way that highly customized projects’ QFD-requirements are optimum and future improvements are secured.


About your tasks and responsibilities

The Engineering Manager has strong affinity with the following prerequisites;

Multidisciplinary project engineering; coordinate projects’ engineering phases, composing detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of all engineering activities;
Management of technology portfolio and cross functional standardization programs, in order to optimize re-usable solutions and modules;
Confer with Management Team, Product Managers, Sales Managers and Project Managers to discuss project specifications and procedures;
Hierarchical management over Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Commissioning and Process Engineers, as well as System Architects (the engineering group consists out of 25 to 30 FTE);
Deriving the engineering team roadmap from company strategy and budget forecasts and maintaining the overall overview on operational engineering budget and planning;
Supporting Project Managers in project forecasting and holds responsibility for the engineering part of the master planning;
Coordinates and is responsible for activities of all engineering personnel and outside contractors/consultants;
Responsible for maintaining and smart improvement of engineering procedures and internal standards (way of working);
Responsible for the quality of engineered solutions, and technology portfolio;
Manages the personal development of the individual engineers by undertaking periodic Performance reviews and defining individual training roadmaps;
Support in budgeting new equipment or projects.


Job requirements

MSc or BSc+ educated in the field of Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or Mechanical Engineering;
Over 6 years of managerial experience in engineering groups above 10 FTE. Background specifically in managing controls (Software) group;
Background in complex and multidisciplinary CAPEX equipment development projects;
Although our customer is a strongly project oriented organization, knowledge in the field of product engineering, change control and life-cycle management is considered as a plus;
Comfortable in an international team, working with different cultures and related time zones;
Fluent in English conversant, also in writing;
Ideally experienced company integrations through acquisitions.

About our customer

Founded in Nijmegen, The Netherlands in 1936, our customer is leading supplier of customized thermal equipment and processes for the photovoltaics, printed electronics and battery industries. The company’s core competences are not limited to thermal treatment, but include deposition processes using thermal evaporation, (PE)CVD and ALD for both rigid and flexible substrates. The group is part of WIDG, a strong and state-owned company in China. Their team consists of around 65 engineers and currently have more than 3000 installations operating, including some 150 in the solar and battery industry.
