About the position

The current software engineering team needs a technical leader and therefore we are searching for a Lead Engineer for the software department of our client. The current team exist of 14 software developers, including flex population. In this role you have a prominent position within the organization and you report directly to the Engineering Manager.

You mainly work in the implementation of capex equipment projects for various international (high-tech) end customers. Our clients projects are carried out on the basis of Allen Bradley and Beckhoff PLC’s combined with C# HMI application.

The projects are mainly installed in Eindhoven but sometimes (max. 1 or 2 times per year) there is traveling needed to China, Southeast Asia and North America.

As Lead Engineer you have overall responsibility for software development at strategy level, architecture and planning. You are driven to manage multiple software engineers. In addition, you are the one who manages to raise the current basic architecture to a higher level, parallel with the current projects.

For this position we are searching for a candidate with a strong PLC background, preferably with Beckhoff or Allen Bradley.


Essential job functions are

Assisting colleagues in the performance of their duties;
Preparation of software specifications and any associated hardware specifications;
Set up estimated hours for own duties;
Prepare pre-calculation for project budgets;
Identifying and estimate technical risks;
Communicate and present the work progress;
Requirements review, specifications, documentation and code (pre-review);
Transfer to internal customer;
Manage and lead software development processes;
Creative problem-solving skills and a pragmatic approach.


Skills and Qualifications

A minimum Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering with software strength or a similar study;
8+ years of software engineering or development experience, preferably in OEM industries;
Good written and verbal English communication skills;
Interpersonal skills for working in an international, English speaking environment;
Working independently and within a multidisciplinary team;
Entrepreneur in his field and way of working;
Hands-On and Can-Do mentality;
Leader with great communicative skills.



Hands-on programming experience using relevant languages (PLC’s like Beckhoff or Allen Bradley);
.NET experience with C# and Codesys 3 within a machinebuilding environment;
Experienced with relevant tool suites (in example Scrum wise, Redmine, 3D Creo Elements);
Familiar with Fieldbus and networks such as Devicenet, Ethernet/IP (CIP protocol) and EtherCAT.
