About the position

As the world of lighting turns to smart lighting and IoT applications, the driver is the heart of this technology revolution in the industry. New product development, sustaining of the continuously growing product portfolio and secure the leadership position with the creation of new technology are the three main challenges the development team faces. We are searching for a Lead Firmware Engineer that loves to work in this challenging environment.

The firmware teams design, implements and maintain a suite of multi-platform LED driver controls. Various lighting control protocols (C) and real time hardware control (assembler) to name a few. The ever-expanding set of features and tools serves a variety of users including lighting designers, internal R&D and production cells.

Within this position you will specify, develop, and maintain firmware related to: power conversion, current modulation, communication protocols (DMX/RDM, DALI, Bluetooth, LEDcode), sensors, battery backup systems, color tuning, etc.

Deliverables include:

Firmware in C/Assembler (microchip);
Test scripting (Python/Labview);
Documentation and reporting.

Your tasks

Development and maintenance of firmware for the building blocks of drivers and peripherals;
Close interaction with the innovation, test, hardware and software teams, as well as other parts of the company (USA and Mexico);
Take ownership to lead analysis of problems and proposed solutions;
Be the voice of firmware in New Product Development projects;
Initiate process improvements.

Job requirements

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field;
Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience;
Solid experience in Embedded C and/or Assembly;
Strong affinity with communication interfaces and system;
Affinity with (power) electronics and/or (LED) Lighting and use of lab equipment;
Experience with modern build environments (e.g. versioning systems, regression test suites, automated builds, DevOps);
Strong communication skills in English, Dutch brings an advantage;
Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel and act as sounding board for teammates;
Pro-active, flexible attitude and a results-oriented team player that takes responsibility.

Preferred

Experience with Microchip processors;
Experience with Python, or other scripting languages;
Experience in Assembler is an advantage.
